Ark of the Covenant by Joseph Abraham
The Qur’an says that Prophet Samuel (PBUH) spoke to his people (Israelites) about the Ark of the Covenant. The Quran didn't directly mention his name but historians said that the account was about prophet Samuel. He said that the ark will return to them (which was stolen from the Israelites years ago) and it will be a sign for the believers of Allah (a religious validation).
His people came to him regarding appointing a king among them who will lead them in a war against philistine people (A member of an Aegean people who settled ancient Philistia/a trade route between Syria-Egypt around the 12th century BC). They confiscated lands from Israelites. Prophet Samuel said that the Ark will miraculously come to them (as a sign of Allah) and when it comes they have to believe that Saul (King Saul/Talut-the first king of Israelites) was the right king for them. Many of them weren't pleased about selecting Saul as a king because he was poor. But Allah chose Saul because he was healthy and wise.
The Ark/chest (wooden box) had contained some relics/belongings (Shoes of Moses, two broken tablets containing ten commandments; pot of Manna/food that Allah gave the Israelites during the Exodus) of the family of Prophet Moses (PBUH) and Prophet Aaron (Harun) (PBUH). It was brought and carried by angels.
“And their prophet said to them, "Indeed, a sign of his kingship is that the chest will come to you in which is assurance from your Lord and a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron had left, carried by the angels. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers." - (The Holy Quran 2:248)
But ultimately it was Prophet David (Dawood) (PBUH) (2nd king of Israelites/after the death of Prophet Samuel and King Saul) who defeated Goliath (a big and mighty warrior of Philistine) and helped Israelites gain kingdom again.
“So they defeated them by permission of Allah , and David killed Goliath, and Allah gave him the kingship and prophethood and taught him from that which He willed. And if it were not for Allah checking [some] people by means of others, the earth would have been corrupted, but Allah is full of bounty to the worlds.” - (The Holy Quran 2:251)
