What is repentance? . Believers are those who not only profess to accept the guidance from God, but actively implement it completely and fully in their lives. They do this first by repenting. What is repentance? Repentance takes place when regressive actions are replaced by virtuous deeds, only good works nullify the bad works. When a person has strayed off the balanced path and realises it, reappraises the situation and moves forward in the right direction, this is repentance. Contrition just before death is of no value because the Self develops through good deeds and death may take away the time needed for the reparation period. Furthermore, repentance is not a passive act of regret. Repentance means not to succumb to unrestrained grief, but to resolutely hasten back to the starting point and choose the correct path.
