.
[2:211] Ask (Sal') the Children of Israel (Banii Is'raa'illa) how many (Kam') a (Min') sign (miracle) (Aayati) as
proof (Bayyinatin) have We given them (Aatai'naa-hum)? But (Wa) whoever (Man) changes (Yubaddil') the
blessing of GOD (Ni'mata-llahi) after (Min Ba'di) what (Maa) has come to him (Jaa'at'hu), then (Fa) indeed,
GOD (Innallaha) is severe (Shadiidu) in penalty (El'Eqaab).
.
📍Note:
The Quran's miracle is a great blessing, and brings with it an awesome responsibility (please see 5:115)(14/28).

.
[2:212] Adorned (Zuyyina) for those who (Lillaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru') is the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life
(El'Hayaatu), and (Wa) they ridicule (Yas'kharuuna Mina) those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'); but (Wa)
those who (Ellaziina) are pious (Ettaqaw') will be above them (Faw'qahum') on the Day of Resurrection
(Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) provides for (Yar'zuqu) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau)
without (Bi-Gairi) reckoning (Hisaab).
.
📍Verse/Note:
2:212 Alluring is the life of this world to those who reject the truth, and they mock those who believe (in Permanent Moral Values.) But those who live upright will be above them in ranks on the Day of Resurrection. Nevertheless, God grants sustenance without stint according to His laws.

.
[2:213] Mankind (En'Naasu) was (Kaana) a single (Waahidatan) nation (Ummatan); then (Fa) GOD (Ellahu)
raised (Baåtha) the prophets (En'Nabiyyiina) as missionaries (Mubasshiriina) and (Wa) warners (Munziriina)
and revealed (Anzala) the Book (El'Kitaaba) with them (Maåhumu) in truth (Bil' Haqqi) so that (Li) they may
judge (Yah'kuma) between (Bai'na) the people (En'Naasi) concerning what (Fiimaa) they differed (Ekh'talafu'
Fiihi); but (Wa) none (Maa) disputed about it (Ekh'talafa Fiihi) except (illa) those who (Ellaziina) were given
it (Uutuu-hu), after (Min Ba'di) what (Maa) had come to them (Jaa'at'humu) of proofs (El'Bayyinaatu); out of
injustice (Bag'ya) among them (Bai'nahum'). And (Fa) GOD (Ellahu) guided (Hadaa) those who (Ellaziina)
believed (Aamanu') to what (Limaa) they had differed (Ekh'talafu' Fiihi) of (Mina) the truth (El'Haqqi), by (Bi)
HIS permission (Iz'ni-hi). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) guides (Yah'dii) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau) to
(ilaa) a straight (Mus'tqiim) path (Siraatin).
.
📍Verse/Note-1
2:213 Mankind were one single community (but selfishness divided them). So, God sent Prophets as bearers of good news and warnings. He sent down with them the scripture in absolute truth that it might judge between people wherein they differed. But again, out of mutual rivalry, they divided themselves after all evidence of the Right had come to them! So, God shows the lighted road to those who would acknowledge the truth and thus resolve their disputes. And God guides to the straight road him who wills to be guided.149
.
Satan, the selfish desires, had rent asunder the unity of mankind. 2:36, 10:19. Using the perceptual and conceptual faculties in all humility help people achieve guidance, while selfishness, arrogance and blind following lead them astray. 2:170, 4:88, 6:56, 7:173,
7:179, 17:36, 27:80, 30:22, 37:113, 40:34, 41:17, 56:79.
.
📍Verse/Note-2
213 Not only the history of Bani-Isr ael but that of humanity bears witness to what has been
stated above. As mentioned in the story of Adam (2/30) originally mankind was a single
community, free of dissension. Then human beings created mutual differences (10/19) and since
these differences could not be resolved by means of human intellect alone, Allah sent a series of
Anbia and Books for this purpose, who would give them glad tidings provided they lived together
as one family and warn them about the consequences of a disintegrated society and resolve their
differences in accordance with the revealed book. After departure of the Anbia who had
accomplished their appointed tasks, their followers again created differences amongst themselves in
their desire to outdo and out-strive each other. Those from amongst them who followed Allah's Guidance were able again to resolve their mutual differences. This is how Allah, according to His Laws shows the right path to those who seek it (2/136, 3/83, 3/183, 16/92, 57/25).(pz).

.
[2:214] Or do (Am') you think (Hasib'tum') that (An) you will enter (Tad'khulu') Paradise (El'Jannata) while
(Wa) the instance (Mathalu) of those who (Ellaziina) passed (Khalaw') before you (Min Qab'li-kum) has not
yet (Lammaa) come to you (Ya'ti-kum)? They were touched (Massat'humu) by misery (El'Ba'saa'u) and (Wa)
adversity (Ed'Dorraa'u) and were shaken (Zul'zilu') until (Hattaa) the Messenger (Er'Rasuulu) and (Wa) those
who (Ellaziina) believed (Aamanu') with him (Maåhu) said (Yaquula), "When (Mataa) is the help of GOD
(Nas'ru-llahi)?" Verily (Alaa) indeed (Inna), the help of GOD (Nas'ra-llahi) is near (Qariib).
.
📍Verse/Note-1
2:214 Or, do you expect to enter the Garden (or regain your lost Paradise) without facing challenges as came to those who passed before you? Hardship and adversity befell them, and so shaken were they that the Messenger and the believers with him, cried, “When will the help of God come?” But, (once the revolution gets going) God’s help is near.
.
3:141, 9:16, 29:2, 33:10. Unity of mankind will not be easy to attain. The differences and prejudices of race, ethnicity, color, creed, wealth and nationalism will always be the barriers to surmount.
.
📍Verse/Note-2
214 O Jama at-ul-Momineen, the ideal social system which will be free of dissension will not
be created without great hardship and difficulty. Those who established this system earlier, met
with such formidable obstacles that they cried out: When will our efforts bear fruit, O Allah?
(3/141, 9/16, 13/40, 29/2, 33/10). You will also have to confront similar obstructions, but be sure
that your efforts will be rewarded as were theirs.
.
(Recipients of Charity).
.
[2:215] They ask you (s) (Yas'aluunaka) what (Maaza) they should disburse (Yunfiquuna). Say (Qul'):
"Whatever (Maa) you disburse (Anfaq'tum) of (Min') good (Khai'rin), then (Fa) it is for the parents (Lil'
Waalidai'ni), the relatives (El'Aq'rabiina), the orphans (El'Yataamaa), the poor people (El'Masaakiini), and
(Wa) the wayfarer (Eb'nis' Sabiili). And (Wa) whatever (Maa) you do (Taf'ålu') of (Min') good (Khai'rin), then
(Fa) indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is aware (Åliim) of it (Bihi)."
.
📍Verse:
215 The first stage of your struggle involves financial sacrifice. O Rasool! your companions
ask you as to how much money is required and where it is to be spent. Tell them, that the
programme will be initiated within a circle of persons needing your help e.g. your parents, other
relatives, those who are left without support, those whose running business become immobilised,
and way-farers. Allah will take note of whatever you do to help them.

(Believers: The Ultimate Victors).
.
[2:216] Decreed (Kutiba) to you (Ålai'kumu) is the fighting (El'Qitaalu) while (Wa) it (Huwa) is hateful
(Kur'hun) to you (Lakum'); but (Wa) maybe (Åsaa An) you hate (Tak'rahu') something (Shai'an) while (Wa) it
(Huwa) is good (Khai'run) for you (Lakum'), and (Wa) maybe (Åsaa An) you like (Tuhibbu') something
(Shai'an) while (Wa) it (Huwa) is bad (Sharrun) for you (Lakum'). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) knows (Ya'lamu)
while (Wa) you (Antum') do not (Laa) know (Ta'lamuun).
.
📍Verse/Note:
2:216 Fighting in self-defense is ordained for you, even though it is hateful to you. But it may happen that you hate a thing that is good for you, and it may happen that you love a thing that is bad for you. God knows and you know not. [2:190-193, 22:39].
.
Insofar as it relates to fighting, this verse must be read in conjunction with 2:190 and 22:39 : but it expresses, in addition, a general truth applicable to many situations.
