[2:172] O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), eat (Kulu') from (Min) the good things
(Toyyibaati) which (Maa) We have provided for you (Razaq'naa-kum) and (Wa) be thankful (Esh'kuru') to
GOD (Lillahi), if (In) it is HIM (Iyyaahu) you (p) are (Kuntum') worshipping (Ta'buduun).
.
đNote:
Throughout the Quran, only four dietary articles are prohibited (6:145; 16:115). Other dietary prohibitions are the products of those who have divided themselves into sects and factions by following hadith and sunna. Prohibiting something that God has not prohibited in the name of God is another way of associating partners with God (6:121).
.
The Quran specifically prohibits four meats (2:173, 5:3, 6:142-145, and 16:112).

[2:173] HE (God) has only (Innamaa) outlawed (Harrama) for you (Ã
lai'kumu) dead animals (El'Mai'tata),
blood (Ed'Dama), the meat (Lah'ma) of pig (El'Khinziiri), and what (Wamaa) has been offered (Uhilla Bihi) to
(Li) other than GOD (Gai'ri-llahi). But (Fa) whoever (Mani) is compelled (Ed'turra) without (Gai'ra) desiring
(Baagin) nor (Walaa) trespassing (Ã
ÃĨdin), then (Fa) there is no (Laa) sin (Ith'ma) upon him (Ã
lai'hi). Indeed,
GOD (Innallaha) is Forgiving (Gafuurun) and Merciful (Rahiim).
.
đVerse/Note:
2:173 He has forbidden you: dead meat (carrion), blood, swine-flesh, and anything (not just meat) that has been dedicated to other than God (be it a person, an idol or a tomb đ5:3). But if one is forced by necessity, neither intending disobedience, nor exceeding, it will not be a violation that hurts his own ‘self’. Indeed, God is Forgiving, Merciful.
.
6:121, 6:145-146. Ithm = A violation that drags down the ‘self’ = An act that hurts the human ‘self’ = Anything that makes it difficult to rise up = An impediment to activity = Any action that depletes individual or communal energy. Ghafarah = Helmet. Forgiveness involves protection from the detrimental effects of faults.

[2:174] Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) conceal (Yak'tumuuna) what (Maa) GOD has revealed (Anzala-
llahu) of (Mina) the Book (El'Kitaabi) and (Wa) trade it for (Yash'taruuna Bi-hi) a little (Qaliilan) price
(Thamanan), those (U'laaika) are only (Maa illa) consuming (Ya'kuluuna) the Fire (En'Naara) into (Fii) their
bellies (Butuuni-him'). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) will not (Laa) speak to them (Yukallimu-humu) on the Day of
Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati), nor (Walaa) will HE purify them (Yuzakkii-him'), but (Wa) they will
have (Lahum') a painful (Aliim) punishment (Ã
zaabun).
.
đNote:
Those who conceal the Book = The ones who start making their own lists of the lawful and unlawful, and thus, usurp the Divine Right of law-making. Also note that this verse clearly mentions the ongoing growth and evolution of the ‘self’ in the Hereafter. Tazkiah from Zaku= Growth = Purity from vice = Development of the ‘self’ = Self-actualization.

đVerses/Note/combine:
174-175 This is Allah s Law regarding Hal al and Har am (5/3, 5/87, 6/119-120, 6/122, 6/146, 10/59,
16/115-116, 22/30, 66/1). Those who conceal this Law and start compiling their own lists of Hal al
and Har am, assume Divine Authority and make it a means for attaining worldly gains. Though
such people may appear to be very affluent and pious, they are preparing an inferno for themselves.
You will see that on the Day of Judgement they will not receive the blessings which flow from
adherence to the Divine Laws and their potentialities will remain unfulfilled. This will be a dreadful(pz).

[2:177] Righteousness (El'Birra) is not (Lai'sa) to (An) turn (Tuwallu') your faces (Wujuuha-kum') towards
(Qibala) the east (El'Mash'riqi) and the west (Wal' Mag'ribi), but (Walaakinna) righteous (El'Birra) is one who
(Man') believes (Aamana) in GOD (Billahi), the Last Day (Yaw'mil' Akhiri), the Angels (El'Malaaikati), the
Book (El'Kitaabi), and (Wa) the prophets (En'Nabiyyiina); and (Wa) gives (Aataa) money (El'Maala) upon
(Ã
laa) love for it (Hubbi-hi) to the relatives (Zawiil' Qur'baa), the orphans (El'Yataamaa), the poor people
(El'Masaakiina), the wayfarer (Eb'na Es'Sabiili), the beggars (Es'Saailiina), and (Wa) for (Fii) the slaves
(Er'Riqaabi); and (Wa) they establish (Aqaama) Prayer (Es'Solaata) and give (Aata) Charity (Ez'Zakaata); and
(Wa) they fulfil (El'Muufuuna Bi) their agreement (Ã
h'di-him) whenever (Izaa) they make an agreement
(Ã
ÃĨhadu'); and (Wa) they are patient (Es'Soabiriina) in (Fii) misery (El'Ba'saai), adversity (Ed'Dorraai), and
(Wa) in times (Hiina) of fear (El'Ba'si). Those (U'laaika) are the ones who (Ellaziina) are truthful (Sodaqu');
and (Wa) they (Humu) are those (U'laaika) who are the pious (El'Muttaquun).
.
đVerse/Note:
2:177 (One consequence of this schism is their pre-occupation with rituals, with each sect leaving the revelation aside and taking delight in its own set of dogmas they call religion. 30:32) Righteousness and exponential development of the ‘self’ (‘al-Birr’) depends not on whether you turn your faces to East or West. But righteousness is that: (1) One has conviction in God, and (2) the Last Day, and (3) the Angels, and (4) the Book, and (5) the Prophets. And that one gives of his cherished wealth to: Family and relatives, orphans, widows, those left helpless in the society, and those whose hard-earned income fails to meet their basic needs, those whose running businesses have stalled, the ones who have lost their jobs, whose life has stalled for any reason, the disabled, the needy wayfarer, son of the street, the homeless, the one who travels for assistance, those who ask for help, and those whose necks are burdened with any kind of bondage, oppression, crushing debts and extreme hardship of labor. (And righteous are) those who strive to establish the institution of Salaat,(2:3, 2:153) And help set up the Economic System of Zakaat. They are true to their pledge whenever they make one. And they remain steadfast in physical or emotional distress and in times of peril. It is those who have proven themselves to be true, and it is those who live upright.
.
Belief in Books 4:136, 2:4, 3:91. Yateem, Miskeen, Ibn-is-Sabeel, Fir-Riqaab, carry all the meanings rendered above. Please note that this verse gives us the well-known Five Articles of Faith. But belief in Taqdeer = Predetermined destiny, has been interjected in the fabricated Ajami Ahadith as the sixth article of faith by ‘Imams’, making Muslims fatalistic in their thought and behavior. The Qur’an nowhere mentions Taqdeer or the predestined fates of individuals. Qadar or Taqdeer always denote the law, the due measure of all things appointed by God. And man determines his own destiny by following or defying those laws.
