Martyrdom: Verses 3:151-158 show that mu'mins are willing to kill and get killed in the cause of God. Writing about the death of the cruel and the ruthless, ex-diplomat Machiavelli observed in his book The Prince: "...such-like deaths, which are deliberately inflicted with a resolved and desperate courage, cannot be avoided by princes, because anyone who does not fear to die can  inflict them." To take a life requires courage, and to give your life in the cause of God is not only brave, it is the ultimate sacrifice. Those who fight to destroy the corrupt without fear of death are indeed a formidable force. However, Machiavelli also noted these are rare, this is the reason why the leaders/politicians/princes (the criminals and unscrupulous wheelers, dealers and schemers) do not need to fear them too much.
