11:69 AND, INDEED, there came unto Abraham Our [heavenly] messengers, bearing a glad tiding.(*) They bade him peace; [and] he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!"-and made haste to place before them(**) a roasted calf.

Note*

The Qur'an does not state in so many words that these guests of Abraham were angels; but since the term rusuluna ("Our messengers") is often used in the sense of heavenly messengers, all the classical commentators interpret it thus in the above context. For the contents of the 🦜"glad tiding" referred to here, see verse 🦜11:71 below.-The reason for prefacing the story of Lot with an episode from Abraham's life lies in the-latter's subsequent pleading in behalf of the sinful people of Sodom (verses 11:74-76) and also, possibly, in God's earlier promise to him, "Behold, I shall make thee a leader of men" (see 2:124🐦), which must have imbued him with an enhanced sense of moral responsibility not only for his own family but also for the people with whom he was indirectly connected through his nephew Lot (Lut in Arabic)(as).

۞ وَإِذِ ابْتَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمَاتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا ۖ قَالَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ

আৰু স্মৰণ কৰা, যেতিয়া ইব্ৰাহীমক তেওঁৰ প্ৰতিপালকে কেইটামান বাণীৰ দ্বাৰা পৰীক্ষা কৰিছিল,[1] আৰু তেওঁ সেয়া পূৰ্ণ কৰিছিল। আল্লাহে ক’লে, ‘নিশ্চয় মই তোমাক মানৱ জাতিৰ ইমাম বনাম’।[2] তেওঁ ক’লে, ‘আৰু মোৰ বংশধৰসকলৰ পৰাও? আল্লাহে ক’লে, ‘মোৰ এই প্ৰতিশ্ৰুতিয়ে যালিমসকলক অন্তৰ্ভুক্ত নকৰে’।[3])

يَهْدِي بِهِ اللَّهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَهُ سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ وَيُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

যিসকলে আল্লাহৰ সন্তুষ্টিৰ অনুসৰণ কৰে, ইয়াৰ মাধ্যমত তেওঁ সিহঁতক শান্তিৰ পথত পৰিচালিত কৰে আৰু সিহঁতক নিজ অনুমতিক্ৰমে অন্ধকাৰৰ পৰা পোহৰলৈ উলিয়াই আনে লগতে সিহঁতক সৰল পথৰ হিদায়ত দিয়ে।)

وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَائِمَةٌ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا بِإِسْحَاقَ وَمِنْ وَرَاءِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْقُوبَ

আৰু তেওঁৰ স্ত্ৰী থিয় হৈ আছিল, এই শুনি তেওঁ হাঁহি উঠিল। তাৰ পিছত আমি তেওঁক ইছহাক্বৰ আৰু ইছহাক্বৰ পৰৱৰ্তী ইয়াকূবৰ সুসংবাদ দিলো।
